Good Morning,
I've been doing alot of thinking about this whole weight loss endeavor and trying to be healthy. I have been on many different diets with many different approaches and have either lost a little weight, or became sick. The only diet that's ever worked and that has fit into our lifestyles has been Weight Watchers. But, sooner or later, we "go off" all of the diets that we "go on" and gain all the weight back and are right back where we started.
I'm not going to do this anymore. I'm not going on a special diet where I have to buy a book, special food, see a doctor, etc.
I'm going to follow the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association recommendations for what all people need to eat on a daily basis. I am simultaneously going to continue eating the Mediterranean-Asian style. I am going to coninue to eat less, exercise more, less alcohol (concentrating on red wine as my main alcoholic drink), more sleep, more laughing with friends and family, less stress. It just seems to make the most sense to me.
In the days to come before my year is up on this endeavor and blog, (October 27th) I will share my successes with different recipes following the M-A style of cooking, my weight loss and other thoughts about my relationship with food, Diabetes and how I'm going to fit this all into my lifestyle.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
I've learned something about myself over the past couple of weeks. I've been relying on "the diet" to make me lose weight and to make me healthy. But "the diet" is not going to do it for me. With God's help and His gift of free will to all of us, He wants me to choose to be healthy and to lose weight. It's all up to me. Me on the inside, me making choices every day, me me me. I have to rely on what I think and feel and do to make this happen. I obviously need God's help and all of your support, but it really is up to me. I pray I choose well every day.
